Happy Women’s Day South Africa! In honour of all the magical women out there we are going to shine some light on CBD for Women.
Women’s Day in South Africa was first celebrated on August 9th, 1995. South Africa had just become a democratic country and the day was declared a national holiday and has been honouring the women of our country ever since!
Why was this recognized as a holiday you might ask. On 9 August 1956, in one of the country’s largest demonstrations, 20 000 women of all races marched to Pretoria’s Union Buildings to present a petition to Prime Minister JG Strijdom opposing the carrying of passes by women.
According to South African History Online The Federation of South African Women organised the protest against the pass laws (FSAW or FEDSAW) challenging the notion that women needed to be in the kitchen and at home all the time. The women sang a freedom song after handing over the petition to the prime minister’s secretary: Wathint’ abafazi, Strijdom! Since then, the phrase ‘wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo’ (You Strike a Woman, You Strike a Rock) has come to symbolise South African women’s courage and strength.
It has become one of the national holidays, with women in prominent positions making appearances and giving speeches at various venues across the country. Since then, August has been designated as National Women’s Month.
Honouring Women in CBD
Nabielah discovered she has familial hypercholesterolemia, a genetic disorder, in 2019. It raises LDL (bad) cholesterol levels dramatically. She was given medication, which added to her problems, particularly joint pain. It prompted her to begin looking into natural remedies. Hoping to find something that would get to the root of the problem rather than the quick fix that traditional medicine provided. “We tend not to read the side-effects inserts and overlook the effects,” she says. Naturally curious about what she puts into her body, she began researching alternative medical treatments. Nabielah believes you have the right to choose your own treatments. Trust your doctor, but exercise your right to inquire. So MotherNature SA was born. [The Daily Vox]
Centering her research on pain management she began making gummies with tumeric and collagen. With its high-inflammatory properties it is effective in eliminating joint pain. When the lockdown began, Nabielah switched to CBD-infused gummies. Her sleep patterns were disrupted as a result of her own anxiety about the state of the world and the ongoing pandemic. She went back to researching natural remedies because she didn’t want to rely on a sleeping pill. One of Nabielah’s most loyal customers has successfully weaned herself off of a popular but dangerous pain reliever, and the cannabis gummies allow her to sleep soundly with no negative side effects.
MotherNature SA only uses pure CBD oil.
